I have paid on my car for 5 years and according to my records it is paid for. The company that took over the loan says I owe another year on it but will not provide paperwork to support this. They came and reposessed my car Thrusday but again - no paperwork! Where do I turn for help??? Please I need that car to look for a job....

I live in the state of Ky.

First, if your car was reposessed without paperwork you should call the police.

I suggest this for two reasons:

1) If there was no paperwork drafted, it is possible the situation can be labeled an auto theft. (I'll research the repo laws in KY after posting this.

2) If the repo was done legally, the police will require proof.

It sounds like you will need the assistance of an attorney. They should be able to prepare you some type of letter that requests the company to send proof of the loan and your payment history.  It sounds like that company has gotten over on you...Good luck.
